Dialogue #1: Going to the Movies

This lesson consists of a dialogue between Dilshan and Upeksha. I will post more 

example sentences for grammar points that were introduced to me while writing

this dialogue next week, June 29th.

D: Api sikuraadaata movie ekak balanna yamuda?

        අපි සිකුරාදාට මොවී  එකක් චිත්‍රපටි යමුද?

Shall we go see a movie on Friday?

U: Mata bæ. Mata nændaage gedara yanna one.

මට බැ.මට  මගේ නැන්දාගේ ගෙදර යන්න ඕනෙ.

I can’t.I have to go to my aunt’s house.

D: Senasuraadaata yanna puluwan da?

සෙනසුරාදාට යන්න පුළුවන්ද?

Can you go on Saturday?

U: Mata puluwan! Mona movie eka da balanna one?

මට පුළුවන්! මොන මොවී  එක ද බලන්න ඕනෙ.?

I can! Which movie do you want to watch?

D: Mata Avengers balanna one.

මට  Avengers බලන්න ඕනෙ.

I want to watch Avengers.

U: Mama eeka balala thiyennawa. Mulan kohomoda?

මම ඒක බලල තියෙනවා. Mulan කොහොමද?

I already watched that. How about Mulan?

D: Ou, mata æheuna eeka hondayi kiyala.

ඔව්, මට  ඒකඋන ඒක හොඳයි කියලා.

Sure, I heard that it is good.

U: Koi velaavatada balanna oune?

කොඉ වෙලාවටද බලන්න ඕනෙ ?

What time do you want to watch it at?

D: Haya puluwan da?

හය පුළුවන්ද?

Can you do 6?

U: Hari. Movie eka baeluwata passe, api aluth hotalayi kanna yamuda? 

හරි. මොවී එක බැලුවට පස්සෙ, අපි අලුත් හොටලයි කන්න  යමුද?

Okay. After we watch the movie, shall we go to eat at the new restaurant?

D: Hari. Api ikmanta hambuemu.

හරි. අපි ඉක්මනිට හම්බුඑමු .

Sure. See you soon. (Literally: Let’s meet quickly.)
